Wedding Weekend

On saturday my cousin Kirsty got married to Stuart! It was a beautiful day and they looked gorgeous together.

The day started with an early wake up call from little man, as always and I set off to the corner shop at around 7am with Henry in tow to pick up some sausages and croissants for a hearty breakfast. But also to give James 5 more mins in bed.

After brekkie I set off for my hair appointment, a wedding style up do. It was great to get 5 mins to relax but not so great when she sprayed a ton of hairspray on my hair which meant it was stuck to my skin..... literally!  So I finished up and heading home the heavens opened! Typical! I ran all the way home without stopping to save my £55 up do! Shouldn't have bothered....it was ruined I looked like a drowned rat! I must admit I was in stitches with James...Very ironic. But without time to spare I did what I could to salvage my up do and the rain did me a favour as the hair wasn't so stuck to my skin as before. After a blow dry, quick pull down of some surrounding hair it didn't look too shabby with makeup and my dress on I was good to go and to wake up little man from his snooze to get him suited and booted.

Ruined. But funny! :D

We left at around 10.30ish and made our way to Hellingly. A lovely little village where the church service was to take place. Henry was such a good boy and with a snack at hand and being passed between mummy and daddy, he lasted the 45min wedding service without a murmur. Although he did reach for the guy in fronts shoulder and left a lovely little dribble hand mark on his suit jacket! James and I kept very quiet and giggled to ourselves :-)

After the ceremony which reminded me so much of our wedding, we set off to the reception which was just up the road at a place called Blackstock Farm. It was a barn with land surrounded by llamas, horses, chickens, goats and a children plays area. Unfortunately this was closed off after 5pm but we still got to admire the view from outside the barn.

We sat down to the wedding breakfast at 4 and we were on the table called "The Legion". This was where Stuart asked Uncle David if he could marry Kirsty! (also where we have had a few very fun and dunk new years eves!) Very sweet. All the tables were named after places that meant something to them, like favourite pubs and memorable places.  Henry had his own little place between James and I and his own high chair with a name setting. He was really good at the table throughout the meal and the speeches. In fact he was so good he didn't sleep a wink the whole day! Everyone was full of praise of how good he was and thought he was super handsome in his wedding suit. He had a lot of admirers indeed.

At party time we got Henry changed into his pj's and Kirsty was kind enough to let us use her wedding room to sit with him away from the loud noise of the band. He was very content playing with a pice of ribbon off of the wedding favours whilst bum shuffling across the floor. James sat with him while I nipped in and out to watch the first dance and grab cake and coffee to keep us going.

At around 10pm Dad came in eating the evening hog roast which Henry took interest in and although he didn't want his bottle he had one of his baby apple cakes which he scoffed and fell asleep in my mums arms. We took this as our cue to say our goodbyes and wish the wedded couple congratulations again. As I didn't drink much I drove back to my grandparents where we stayed the night. After mum, dad, nan and grandad got in we all eventually went to bed at 1am! And guess what! Yes Henry was awake at 5.30!!! yaaawwwnnnn! So after a bottle and a cheeky dose of calpol to get him to sleep he eventually nodded back off at 6.30 and woke at 8.30.

We spent some time at nan and granddads having a fry up and a catchup before setting off to the legion to see Kirsty and Stuart one last time. We eventually set off home at 3pm saying goodbye to all.

It was a really great, busy, tiring weekend.
