Dinner at Outlaws

James had a work dinner tonight and the other halves were also invited (yay for me :) We headed to knightsbridge to a hotel called The Capitol where Nathan Outlaws restaurant is based. The night was mostly work for James, meeting clients and mingling although James did invite a guy who he knows well and we met at Ascot 4 years ago so we all sat together. The night included, a champagne reception followed by Nathan Outlaw teaching us how to fillet, lemon sol and sea bass. He also showed us how to properly and safely open an oyster and a scallop. It was lucky there were no vegans or anti animal cruelty fanatics among us as you can imagine, when he said "the scallop/oyster may still be alive" and the blood from the sea bass............yikes!

All of this was followed by a 7 course menu. Each dish was accompanied by a wine which was meant to compliment the dish and each course was a form of fish (Nathan outlaw is a fish chef whom was taught by Rick Stein). They were all scrumptious but I must say by dish 4/5 I was kind of fed up of eating!

We all got a book signed by Nathan at the end. We were still eating at 10.45pm and James had booked our cab by then so we asked if we could see Nathan before we went. He kindly came out and signed our books and had a picture with us. He's a really down to earth guy and was born and bred in Maidstone! His auntie even lives in Lenham! What a small world it is.

My lovely Nanny Jean came to babysit for us and kindly did my hair and helped me with some makeup. I would have looked a mess if it wasn't for her.

A really lovely evening. We are very privileged to experience such things,

James asked Nathan to sign the book for Henry xx

 The long menu.....
